About Us

Learn to ride safely from professionals.

There are at least four ways to look at “Us” – where, what, who and why.
Hopefully, I can briefly answer all four.

Where we are

This is perhaps the easiest of the questions to answer. We’re associated with five different Community Colleges – ranging from Durham in the west, to Algonquin in the east. We operate out of seven separate locations: Whitby, Lindsay, Peterborough, Belleville, Kingston, Pembroke and Ottawa. Each college has its own menu of courses, so you may have to click on the course you want to find out where it is offered.

What we are

This too, is an easy question to answer. Basically, we are a group of people that specialize in teaching people how to ride motorcycles (and Spyders) correctly and safely. It sounds simple, and many other alternatives exist, but we like to think that we’re the best at what we do. We offer five separate courses – depending upon what you want (or need) to know. There’s an Intro course for those who are undecided about whether the adventure of riding a motorcycle is for them. Our most popular course is the Canada Safety Council’s Gearing Up which takes a novice rider from go to pro in one weekend. Beyond that, there’s an M2 Exit course which gets you your permanent “M” licence. We are also one of a very few trainers to offer a course in learning how to ride the Can-Am Spyder. We are also the largest motorcycle training company in Canada – graduating in excess of 2,500 students every year.

Who we are

We’re getting more challenging here, but it’s still reasonably straightforward. We started with a Professor at Sir Sandford Fleming College who had taught driving (to work his way through University) and had bought a bike in 1969 to cut down his commuting costs. After falling down in almost every conceivable fashion, he concluded that there should be a course to prevent others from experiencing the same fate. Luckily, in 1974 the CSC was looking to put a course in Peterborough, and MotorcycleCourse.com evolved from that point. We’re still a family-run outfit, but there are now 90+ Instructors and 200+ motorcycles carefully arranged to allow you to find the right style of instruction and size and style of bike to suit your preferences.

Why we do what we do

This is the most interesting question, and perhaps the most important. Each Instructor has their own reasons for doing so, but the underlying thread for all of them is to “pay it forward” – in other words, to help others to learn to enjoy the same level of satisfaction and enjoyment that riding brings to them. Our goal is to make sure that EVERY student has the opportunity to succeed – and that would help to explain our success rate of over 95%. We’re proud of what we do and how we do it, and our results reflect that helping and encouraging attitude.
